How to use it

1. Photograph a group of similar objects

Pills, beads, bottle caps, seedlings — anything repeated. Fill the frame and keep the camera steady and square to the surface.

2. Tap one of them

This is the step that matters. Tapping one object teaches Speck what to look for. Add a second or third example if the objects vary.

3. Count, then correct

Speck marks what it found with numbered dots. Tap a wrong dot to remove it, or tap a missed object to add one. The total always matches the dots on screen.

Getting better results

Speck works best when objects are clearly separated and reasonably large in the frame. If the objects are tiny on screen, move closer or pinch to zoom — the warning appears when they are too small to count reliably.

Dense overlapping piles, transparent objects, and flat printed patterns are the hardest cases and will need the most correcting.

Is it always right?

No, and it is not meant to be. Speck does the tedious part — finding most of them in a second — and leaves you the last few taps. If it were perfect there would be nothing to correct.
